What is an expungement?

People call me all the time with questions about criminal record expungements. An expungement provides a person with an opportunity to clean up their criminal record. I only handle Oklahoma expungements.

Under Oklahoma statutes, there are two types of criminal record expungements: public record and arrest record expungements. The public record is the record easily available to the general public. An arrest record is the record kept by the OSBI and FBI which list any and all of the times you’ve been arrested.
